Getting Started:
There are just a few steps and a few tools you will need. You will need to print the puppet on heavy card stock. Then you will need scissors, a heavy needle, mini brads, and glue.
Card Stock:
The easy part is going to be printing the puppet out on heavy card stock, to make the jaw work properly this is very important, we used 110 lb.. If you do not have card sock then print out the puppet to color on regular copy paper, glue to any heavy paper.
Cutting Out the Puppet:
Use a good pair of scissors, be patient and cut slowly - you can do it!
Holes for the Brads:
You can find teeny tiny brads with small colorful mini flowers or mini stars in the scrap booking
department of most craft stores. These are perfect for
assembling paper puppets.
Use a heavy needle to make small holes just big enough for the small
brads. These holes don't need to be very large because you
can work the brads carefully into them and that keeps
them tight.
Please ask an adult to help if you are unsure of
yourself or very young.
Putting it all Together:
The first step is to glue the front jaw, that’s the one with teeth, to the back jaw. Be careful to line up the small pin holes you made and the front part of the jaw. Also be careful to use only a small amount of glue and keep it in the glue area. Do not put any glue on the ears
Now push a brad through one end of the push rod "Push rod Pivot point". The prongs face to the back of the dragon. Push this prong through the back jaw “Push rod Pivot point" and bend and flatten the prongs
Push a Brad through the other end of the push rod "Push rod Pivot point". Push this prong through the Back Wing "Push rod Pivot point" also from front to back and bend and flatten the prongs.
Now slip the front ear over the mouth while you slip the back ear along with push rod and back wing, under the Dragon. Line up the pin hole for the jaw and head and put a brad through the front ear, then the head, and then the back ear, and bend the tabs. Then line up the front wing over the pinhole in the body and push a brad through. Before you bend the tabs push them through the empty pinhole in the back wing and then bend the tabs.
Ok so color the dragon and Have fun
